Everything you need to know for a safe and comfortable Char Dham Yatra
May to June: Ideal weather, all routes accessible, moderate temperatures (10°C to 20°C). Best time for first-time visitors.
July to August: Heavy rainfall, landslides possible. Not recommended for travel. Temples may be closed.
September to November: Pleasant weather, clear skies, fewer crowds. Excellent for photography and spiritual experience.
All four Dhams are located at high altitudes (3,000+ meters). Acclimatize properly, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol. If you experience severe symptoms, descend immediately.
Char Dham Yatra involves significant trekking. Prepare physically with regular exercise, especially for Kedarnath (16 km trek) and Yamunotri (6 km trek).
Consult your doctor before the journey, especially if you have heart conditions, respiratory issues, or are elderly. Carry all necessary medications.
Delhi → Haridwar → Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Haridwar → Delhi
Book your hotels well in advance, especially during peak season (May-June). Availability is limited and prices increase during Yatra season.
Accommodations range from basic dharamshalas to premium hotels. Most hotels offer vegetarian meals, hot water, and basic amenities. WiFi may be limited in remote areas.
Choose hotels closer to temples to minimize travel time. However, hotels near base camps (like Gaurikund for Kedarnath) offer better facilities.
